Orientation, Openness & Connection:
A workshop to elucidate and embody the importance of openness and connectedness (two of Chiba Sensei’s 5 pillars of aikido) and how effective orientation to ourselves and the world enables us to establish and maintain center to center, heart to heart, mind to mind connection with our partners.
The workshop will begin with Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement (ATM) lessons that will offer participants the opportunity to explore the primacy of orientation within action. ATM lessons will be available for participants independent from the aikido training.
The following Aikido training will focus on the principle of ki musubi (tying our ki together) through the practice of the kumitachi (sword partner practice) called “ki musubi no tachi”, a staff practice called “Jo awase” (blending exercise with the staff) as well as basic body arts.
