DESCRIPTION:Aikido Institute of San Francisco and Gassaku Aikido are pleased to host G. Lyons\, Shihan\, Chief Instructor of Bucks County Aikido. The event will held Saturday and Sunday\, February 15-16\, 2020 at Alameda Aikikai. More details below in the flyer link. \nGeorge Lyons Sensei began his study of Aikido in 1985 with T.K. Chiba Shihan. \nIn 1986 he joined the teachers training program and became an apprentice of Chiba Shihan. \nAfter six years with Chiba Sensei\, he finished his apprenticeship in Tokyo\, Japan\, as a live-in student in Hombu Dojo\, under the guidance of the late K. Ueshiba\, son of O-Sensei. \nLyons Sensei served on the Biranaki Board of Directors from 2003 to 2009. Since 2009 he has been the chair of the Birankai teacher’s council as well as the chair of the examination committee. He also serves on the Birankai Senior Council. \nLyons Sensei is a 6th-degree black belt and Shihan (master teacher). DESCRIPTION:Aikido Institute of San Francisco will be hosting a special fundraising event next Saturday\, March 23\, from 2pm – 4pm PST. \nWe will be hosting  Kaz Tanahashi Sensei\, a pre-war student of O’Sensei. Tanahashi Sensei is a master calligrapher\, author\, and Zen teacher (please see www.brushmind.net for more info). \nHe will be sharing memories of his time with O’Sensei while brushing calligraphies that will be available for sale. He will take custom requests as well. \nProceeds will benefit his non-profit organization\, www.aworldwithoutarmies.org.
